READING LITERATURE:
1. College and Career Readiness (CCR) Anchor Standard Reading Literature:
"Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text."
Goal(s):
- Given direct instruction (including teaching how to ask various question types), My Student will ask 2 to 3 questions about information presented orally for 80% of trials. (K)
- Given direct instruction (including how to answer various question types), My Student will answer questions about an orally presented paragraph for 80% of trials or greater. (K)
2. College and Career Readiness Anchor Standard Reading Literature:
"Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas."
Goal(s):
- Given direct instruction and use of graphic organizers to support retelling (4 square; somebody, did something, but, so...; First, Then, Last), My Student will retell a familiar story using at least three parts in correct sequence and three details for 80% of trials.
3. College and Career Readiness Anchor Standard Reading Literature:
"Analyze how why individuals, events, and ideas develop and interact over the course of a text."
Goal(s):
- Given direct instruction regarding use of visual cues and graphic organizers to isolate key details, My Student will identify 2 characters, the setting and 2 major events in a read story (with picture cues) for 80% of trials. (K)
4. College and Career Readiness Anchor Standard Reading Literature:
"Interpret words and phrases as they are used in a text, including determining technical, connotative, and figurative meanings, and analyze how specific word choices shape meaning or tone."
Goal(s):
- Given direct instruction and practice, My Student will identify unknown word and ask about it's meaning for at least 75% of oportunities.
- Given direct instruction, practice and guidance by an adult; My student will answer simple questions about a word used in context with 80% accuracy. (K)
- Given direct instruction regarding the importance of understanding words used and strategies such as asking for clarification, looking for portions of the word known (prefixes, suffixes and root words), and using dictionaries; My Student will identify at least 3 unknown words in a given text.
6. College and Career Readiness Anchor Standard Reading Literature6:
"Assess how point of view or purpose shapes the content and style of a text."
9. College and Career Readiness Anchor Standard Reading Literature 9:
"Analyze how two or more texts address similar themes or topics in order to build knowledge or to compare the approaches the authors take."
Goal(s):
- Given direct instruction, practice and use of graphic organizers such as a vehn diagram; My Student will tell one way two characters are the same and one way two characters are different for 80% of trials.
